Richard J. Riegel ’85 Eng

A photo of Richard J. RiegelRichard J. Riegel is chief executive officer of Phlexglobal, Inc. In this role, he is responsible for the overall business direction, strategy, and operational performance of the company. Phlexglobal Inc. is an international technology company specializing in Trial Master File document management solutions for pharmaceutical and biotechnology clinical research.

Riegel previously served as the CEO of LIQUENT, leading the sale of the company to PAREXEL and establishing the company as a key brand of its parent company. Throughout his 30-plus year career, Riegel has held key positions with increasing responsibilities in the technology and professional services industries as a CEO, vice president, general manager, and head of sales, supporting companies in the pharmaceutical and life sciences industries. Riegel earned a master of business administration degree from Villanova University.

Riegel currently serves on the Schreyer Honors College External Advisory Board and is a member of the Schreyer Honors College Campaign Committee. The Riegel family has supported several endowed scholarships for Schreyer Scholars and Penn State Brandywine students. Riegel additionally serves on the Campaign Committee for Penn State Brandywine. He was the inaugural co-chair of the Schreyer Honors College Parents Council.

Riegel earned a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Penn State in 1985. He lives in West Chester, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Tracy, ’85. They are both life members of the Penn State Alumni Association. They have three grown daughters: Lauren ’14, Meghan ’17, ’17g, a Schreyer Honors Scholar, and Carolyn, current Penn State student and Schreyer Honors Scholar.
