PSU vs. Iowa Friday Night Mixer

Please come enjoy an evening under the big top with your fellow Penn State alumni at the Friday Night Mixer before the PSU v. Iowa Football Game! A light dinner is included with your registration. We will also have a cash bar, door prizes and maybe a few special guests! Many thanks to Penn State Alumni Association for their support!

Where: Backpocket Brewing Company- Coralville, IA (Just off Exit 242 I-80)

When: 7:00 P.M. Friday, October 8th

Cost: $25/per person

2020 Annual Winter Luncheon and THON Fundraiser Party was held on January 12 at the Des Moines Botanical Center's Trellis Café.

2019 Football Game Watch with the Central Iowa Chapter! Typically we met at Saints Pub on NW 86th in Urbandale.

October, 2019. Friday Night Mixer in Coralville at Backpocket Brewery. We had a great time with over 100 alums, friends, and their guests. The event was co-hosted by PSAA and the Central Iowa Chapter

August 3 (Saturday afternoon) will be our student send-off and family potluck picnic with grilled foods and Berkey Creamery Ice Cream! We'll again be at Racoon River Park in West Des Moines. More details will be added closer to the date. This will also be our annual meeting for Chapter members.

Saturday June 8, 4:30-??pm. Let's have fun touring the Winterset Winery. We'll get to see their orchard and fermentation room, and be able to sample and purchase several flavors of their hard ciders. Bring your own snacks and food especially if you are staying to listen to the live music scheduled for 6:30 that evening. Address: 1638 Hwy 169 Winterset, IA 50273. This is a family friendly event but youth need to bring their own soft drinks.

Saturday June 1, from 9-11am. This is a service project at Meals for the Heartland. Join fellow PSU alumni and friends packaging meals for those in need. We meet at their site, 357 Lincoln Street West Des Moines, IA 50265 Check your email for your evite.

Sunday May 12 Pop Up Event at Summerset Winery. Listen to Tony Valdez from 2-5 PM.

Saturday FEB 2. Join us at 6:45 PM and watch several PSU hockey commits on Saturday evening. PSU commits: #19 Tyler Paquette is with Des Moines Buccaneers. #17 Chase McLane and #19 Connor McMenamin are with Tri-City Storm>. Des Moines Buccaneer Arena is at 7201 Hickman Road, Urbandale, IA 50322

Jan 20, 11am Holiday lunch at Trellis Café, auctioning memorabilia for THON, and listening to the Botanical Blues concert. Chapter members received free admission.

Jan 1 Citrus Bowl Game watch. Noon at LOUIE's WINE DIVE, 4040 University Ave., Des Moines. Please RSVP so we get the best possible section in the restaurant.

It’s time for some picnic fun including lawn games and a raffle! On Saturday, August 11th, we will be ‘sending off’ several new and returning students from Iowa. Our incoming students and their families will have a chance to meet our Alumni, Friends of Penn State, and each other. A goal of our Chapter is to support the students and families to the best of our abilities. Let’s welcome them into our den and show our local Blue & White pride!

The PSU Chapter will bring burgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers, buns, condiments, tableware, coolers with ice, lots of water, and the famous CREAMERY Ice Cream! This will be potluck style. We ask you to please bring either a side dish or dessert that would serve 10-12 and bring drinks for yourself and to share. Picnic location: Coneflower Shelter A, Raccoon River Park, 2500 Grand Avenue, West Des Moines, IA Time: 2 pm - 5 pm

June 2018. Saturday June 2, 1:30 PM. Stewardship volunteer activity and tour at the Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge near Prairie City. Come see the prairie like it looked in the 1800s. Assist with a stewardship project, tour the building and pathways, drive through the buffalo and elk fields, and more. Great family fun for all ages.

May 2018. A great tour and tasty, premium ice cream in several wonderful flavors! Over the Top! Enjoy a tour of a local, family-run ice cream shop called Over the Top. We've reserved their party room just for our Chapter. Your admission fee of $10 per person includes cost of the tour with some hands on activities, a scoop of premium ice cream, unlimited toppings from their sundae bar, and party room rental.

Jan 2018. Great turnout for the January 2018 holiday gathering at the Des Moines Botanical Center where we ate lunch together at the Trellis café, auctioned memorabilia for THON, and listened to the Botanical Blues concert.

September 2017. Penn State at Iowa Football - Friday Might Mixer and Pep Rally

Co-hosted by PSAA and the Central Iowa Chapter

Date: Friday, September 22 Time: 7:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m

Location: BackPocket Brewery and Tap Room, 903 Quarry Road, Coralville, IA 52241. They are located in the beautiful Iowa River Landing section. We will be outdoors, and under the tent if inclement weather.

Special Guests: The Nittany Lion, Blue Band, and Penn State Cheerleaders will get you pumped up for Saturday's game!

Ticket Price: $20 which covers stationed food such as handcrafted pizzas and a variety of appetizers. All ticket holders will receive a complimentary beverage koozie from the Central Iowa Chapter. There will also be door prizes awarded.

Cash bar to sample all the handcrafted local brews and more!
